- Accumulator
- a single bet that links two or more selections; all must win for the bet to pay out.
- Asian Handicap
- a spread that gives one team a virtual advantage or disadvantage to remove the draw option and equalize the match.
- Bankroll
- the total amount of money a bettor sets aside for placing bets.
- Bankroll Management
- the strategy of deciding how much to bet on each wager to protect your funds and avoid quick losses.
- Bookmaker
- a company or individual that sets odds and accepts bets on sporting events.
- Cash Out
- a feature that lets you settle a bet before the event ends, locking in a profit or limiting a loss.
- Cover
- to win a bet that meets or exceeds the handicap set for a team.
- Double Chance
- a bet that covers two of the three possible outcomes of a match, increasing your chance of winning.
- Draw No Bet
- a wager where you get your stake back if the match ends in a draw, otherwise you win on the team you chose.
- Edge
- the perceived advantage a bettor believes they have over the bookmaker’s odds, based on analysis or information.
- Fixed Odds
- the odds set at the time a bet is placed, which do not change regardless of later market movements.
- In-Play
- betting on a match while it is already in progress, with odds that update as the game unfolds.
- Juice (Vig)
- the built‑in commission a bookmaker charges for taking a bet, reflected in the odds offered.
- Lay Bet
- a bet placed against a specific outcome, typically used on a betting exchange where you act as the bookmaker.
- Line
- the set of odds, spreads, or totals that a bookmaker offers for a particular event.
- Matched Betting
- a technique that uses free bets and promotions to guarantee a profit by covering all possible outcomes.
- Odds
- the numerical expression of the likelihood of an outcome, determining how much you can win relative to your stake.
- Over/Under
- a bet on whether the total number of goals (or points) in a match will be higher or lower than a figure set by the bookmaker.
- Punter
- a person who places bets on sporting events.
- Rollover
- the total amount of money you must bet before bonus winnings can be withdrawn.
- Stake
- the amount of money you risk on a single bet.
- Value Bet
- a wager where the odds offered are higher than the true probability suggests, giving an expected advantage.
- Void
- a bet that is canceled and the stake returned, usually because a match was postponed or a rule was broken.
- Wager
- another word for a bet; the act of risking money on the outcome of an event.
